21C is perfectly located in the heart of Whiskey Row and within steps of so many great venues, distilleries, and activities. The staff are very friendly and accommodating. Rooms are spacious, clean, and comfortable.

This review is for the museum only. Never have I seen a more agenda driven, woke, anti-American museum. Pieces celebrating those who disrespect our anthem, upside down flags, lots of negative references to “white men”, anti-trump pieces, anti-colonization pieces…. it’s over the top. In response to other reviews the owner said “As a contemporary art museum, we present works of art from artists that represent a spectrum of voices and a multitude of backgrounds.” This clearly is nonsense and the owner only cares to amplify woke voices. Could be a nice hotel, but I can’t imagine who would want to stay there having to see that stuff every time you walk through the lobby.

This hotel was very nice, however, on night 1 of our 4 night stay, our vehicle along with many others was vandalized in the hotel parking garage. Management did not handle this situation properly. We were not offered so much as a free meal in the hotel restaurant for all the stress and anxiety we went through. There was zero hospitality. The location of this hotel is ideal and the rooms are very nice but the staff needs to work on their customer service.

Really cool concept for a boutique hotel. Very interesting artwork, some of it is little odd but lol I guess that’s Art. Really classy vibe for most part and the restaurant there had a pretty amazing bison burger. Probably 30% more expensive than other restaurants in a general sense but considering the area downtown, it’s probably right on par, but the taste was pretty fantastic and the people that we encountered that were employees were all very cool and delightful and Service was very so these days that is something to really Admire! It was a Marriott property and the bed was not as comfortable as the typical Marriott but other than that, everything was first class. If you like something that is not cookie cutter… And if you like Downtown’s, this is probably as good of a location as you’re going to get in this place is certainly worth your visit.

We were there for a basketball tournament for my daughter. We were at another hotel that we booked through the tournament that was absolutely terrible. We booked a room at the 21c and were allowed to check in early. Then we arrived everyone was so nice from the valet guy, front desk staff, and everyone we encountered after. We enjoyed that the hotel was also a museum. What an incredible concept. The restaurant was delicious. We loved it there and can’t wait to stay again for next years tournament!

The hotel itself is quite cool. Lots of art to meander through. The rooms were nice, very nice actually. The location leaves a little bit to be desired. It looks like it should be a really cool neighborhood, but there was zero pedestrian traffic on the street. I asked if it was safe to go walk around and was told not as a single person. They really need more restaurants and entertainment right in that general vicinity.

-My partner and I visited for a concert nearby and are not from here. We were looking for hotels downtown walking distance to our destination. Next time we will try the Hilton or farther away hotels and pay for an Uber and pay less for a hotel. We read great reviews and it was a very nice historical hotel .Very expensive for the quality of service. Just a heads up parking and breakfast NOT included!- The check in service when we arrived was horrible. No one was there and we had to wait 10 minutes for someone to come. Not sure where the staff was to help. We needed help finding the check in floor and elevators. The check in and reception is on a whole different floor. So if you have a lot of bags this may be a problem. Usually check in is on the first floor when you arrive. Used elevators which are sort of small. We were having issues checking in and paying with the card and it made us late to the concert. My partner thought he had paid for the room already on booking.com. The older man Curtis told us not to worry about it and gave us our key cards. Later on at check out time we had to worry about it …. We had to pay wait 2 hours none of my partner’s cards would work. Lastly we tried my card and it worked. The supervisor then said they don’t even take bookings through booking.com. But it was on their website. Very terrible experience and I think part of it was because we were a younger couple.-Very quiet and loved the peacefulness. Small tv, but had all the channels we watched. Also rooms were nice, didn’t get many towels or wash clothes. Bathrooms had nice shower, but old toilets and sinks. Pillows weren’t that comfortable. No mouth wash or toothpaste. But we had bought some from home.Overall, would not return, will try other cheaper hotels farther away and pay for Ubers to go downtown.

A friend and I stayed at The Brown Hotel for Bourbon & Beyond Music Festival the weekend of Sept 21. I’ll start with the good: the place is stunning — it even smelled good when we walked in from the parking garage ($22 for overnight parking was not terrible). You cannot deny the rich history of the place and the beauty that has been kept up the last 100 years. We were able to check into our room a few hours early — which I called and asked about 2 weeks in advance. They were able to accommodate without fuss. The room itself was fine. The beds were comfortable; the toilet had trouble flushing which is not uncommon in old buildings like this.On Sunday, I called the front desk and asked if I could order room service. The gentleman who answered said “yes of course” and put me through to the J. Graham Cafe. When the cafe answered, I was told no food could be delivered to my room and I would have to come down and place a carry out order. I found this odd, considering the front desk made it seem as though there would be no issue. I have never had an issue ordering room service at other upscale hotels — after all, this is a 4 star hotel boasting numerous “Diamond” rating plaques in the lobby. I go down to the cafe to order carry out and the same woman who told me to come down then informed me they could not offer carry out orders due to them only serving buffet. Once again, I was confused. Why was I told to come place a carry out order if they don’t offer carry out? I went to the front desk to ask if this is their normal procedure and was told they offer a limited carry out menu on the weekend. Why was that not mentioned before, I am not sure. The woman I spoke to then went on to recommend restaurants nearby. As there are 2 restaurants inside the hotel, I did not want to venture out but explore what was in-house. Ultimately, we ordered Door Dash.Upon returning from the festival, we realized the single roll of toilet paper provided was running low and called the front desk for more. We were told that “there are only 2 people working the front desk” and “we would have to wait.” I am not sure why low staffing was the answer to us asking for toilet paper. This is a very minor request and not uncommon, though we were treated as though it was a serious inconvenience to the understaffed front desk. The next morning, housekeeping ignored our “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door. We got in very late from the festival and I did not appreciate this, especially since we were checking out just a few hours later. The walls are quite thin, and we heard another guest’s screaming child at the elevators. Not as restful as I would have liked. We exited the room around 10:30 and housekeeping immediately went in behind us, before the doors to the elevator even closed, as if we overstayed our welcome. All in all, the place was beautiful. The service left much to be desired. I would not return. I have had better, more rave-worthy service at a 2-star hotel. I left quite disappointed and am not surprised the front desk didn’t ask how our experience was when checking out.

The staff is amazing. The Crystal Ball Room was beautiful, but we were seated for dinner at a wedding and we couldn’t cut our salad or meal without the whole table moving around. The room had very worn furniture. The bathroom was mostly updated, but the toilet wouldn’t flush. We went to a friend’s suite on the 12th floor, where there was a very musty smell in the room. The furniture was scratched and busted up and really was random pieces in the room. In the morning we were awakened by the smell of cigarette smoke. It was strong. It’s a cool hotel but needs updating.

Through Brazen Events, I’ve had the pleasure of hosting luxury weddings and corporate events at The Brown Hotel, and it’s always a top-tier experience. The historic grandeur of the ballroom, combined with world-class service, makes this a standout venue in Louisville. It’s perfect for those looking to impress their guests with elegance and history.

The history and charm of the hotel and room is top notch. I felt like I stepped back in time, which is what I was looking for. We did upgrade our room though and that was not worth it, I don't think. I haven't seen the regular room but I can say that the upgraded "club floor" is nothing special. An old bed, hard pillows, old carpet, a desk, a dresser, two windows, a toilet and cold shower with VERY poor decoration (paintings hung crooked, etc.). I was a bit disappointed that some places were closed off too, I wanted to explore the hotel as a museum. The perk of the club floor was supposedly that you could be part of the "club room" but that was closed off.We received great service at the café and lobby restaurant. Food was great! People serving were awesome. The front desk has not been good. When we first arrived, the lady was sweet, attentive and checked on us once we got in the room. After that, it has almost been a fight to get anyone at the front desk to acknowledge us. One lady rolled her eyes and was absolutely rude when we asked for change for the vending machine. I tried at least 10 times to call the front desk to ask where an ice machine was, they never answered. The treatment from the front desk really put a damper on our stay. From reading other reviews, I think people are only treated well here when they're getting married here. Will not return for a stay but will return to the restaurants.

Staying at The Brown Hotel in Louisville is an experience that transcends the typical hotel stay. From the moment you enter the magnificent lobby, you’re greeted by a sense of history and grandeur that few places can offer. The architecture, with its stunning chandeliers and intricate woodwork, evokes a bygone era of luxury, yet the hotel has all the modern comforts you could ask for.The rooms are beautifully appointed, with plush bedding, high-quality furnishings, and thoughtful touches that make you feel right at home. I was particularly impressed by the level of care given to every detail, from the quality of the linens to the spaciousness of the bathroom. It’s clear that The Brown Hotel is committed to providing its guests with an exceptional experience. The dining options are outstanding. The English Grill offers a dining experience that is both refined and welcoming. The Hot Brown, the hotel’s signature dish, is a must-try—it’s rich, flavorful, and a true taste of Louisville. The bar is also a great spot to unwind, with expertly crafted cocktails and a warm, inviting atmosphere. What truly sets The Brown Hotel apart, though, is the service. Every staff member I encountered was friendly, professional, and went out of their way to ensure my stay was perfect. Whether it was providing local recommendations or simply offering a warm greeting, the service was impeccable. The location is unbeatable, right in the heart of downtown Louisville. It’s within walking distance of many of the city’s attractions, making it easy to explore everything Louisville has to offer. In all, The Brown Hotel is a Louisville treasure. It’s a place where history and luxury meet, and where every guest is treated with the utmost care. I can’t recommend it highly enough and look forward to my next stay.

This review is to shine light of the awesome service I received during my line sister's wedding weekend! My old Kentucky home did not fail in making sure we were accommodated and having a great time at every turn! Jodi & James were so kind and knowledgeable at the bar. And Andres was very attentive when we dined in for brunch. This hotel has an old feel with a lot of old fixtures but it was beautiful all the same. They also offer shuttle service to and from the hotel to the airport.
