This is the third Thompson hotel I ever stayed. I encountered some issues with each and every Thompson hotel, and I felt tired dealing with those issues a bit.The issues I met in this hotel is that:1. Someone told me that the room is not ready because even though they cleaned the room but they need to check it. I waited 30 minutes and I have to check it while all the people in the lobby cleaned2. As globalist, the first person who checked me in didn't tell me a thing about how breakfast or other things work.3. I didn't get notify about that the restaurant was close until the date that I couldn't cancel it and change it.4. When I asked the 2nd peraon for checking i, I was asked to stand back and I could understand that but with the hand in Hyatt elite welcome sign is quite... offensive while I am globalist, and the 1st peraon checked me in never came back. Even they have 2-3 people in front desk, seems like they can only get one person available for handling things.

Amazing location, amazing room - quiet, relaxing and comfortable. Expanded showers were a hit with our kids. Staff super helpful and friendly with one exception. At checkout we asked for a couple waters to fill up water bottles for our kids. Was initially told per General Manager policy.. water is not to be given to guests at front desk, however staff can deliver water to our room.. meaning we would need to wait for water to be delivered, then go back upstairs to retrieve. Makes little sense - Hyatt pls revisit this policy. Thankfully another staff member stepped in, grabbed two waters (located under the counter) and handed them to us.We frequent Hyatt's often (Explorist) and its these little one off service items that often degrade the entire experience.

DISCLAIMER BEWARE OF BED BUGS!08/24/25The location of this hotel was good and the staff was friendly enough, but they lacked a lot of features due to renovations. The rooms weren’t cleaned very well& I was willing to let that all go, but on my 3rd night there was a huge BED BUG in my bed! I had to checkout early. If you’re looking for a nice/clean place to stay, try your luck elsewhere.

I'd love to tell you the reason I'm writing this review is only because the room was spotless and the view was breathtaking, but in actuality, it boils all down to the service Olivia provided. She was welcoming and sweet to my significant other and I and we'll never forget it. Thank you

I was honored to stay at Thompson Chicago, by Hyatt this week. The 4-Star property is located within the Magnificent Mile. The room was spectacular and I have never slept as well as I did during the week I was there. The staff were very professional and answered all of my questions. I was able to shop and dine at many of my favorite places, which were just steps away. The decor is modern with vintage touches. I especially loved the lighting fixtures. If you are in Chicago, I highly recommend the Thompson Chicago, by Hyatt!

It’s right by the navy pier and it’s walkable to other places with great views. The rooms were clean and beds were comfortable to sleep with pillows being the best part of soft as my head sinks in. The bathroom was clean and showers were comfortable with towels fully stocked. My issue was the hallway smelled like vomit the entire stay, I called about it and went to the desk but they did nothing about it. It’s the 15th floor at 1501. Called for room service and didn’t get until I called twice as they did it rather later at 3pm even though we had left at 11am. Some nights you can hear the pipes really loud, I’m not sure if it’s Nextdoor showering or what but it was disturbing. Elevators are a waiting game at times and you need a card for when you use it. The lobby area looks really nice and they have bar/restaurant that we didn’t get a chance to use. They have valet but parking is expensive might as well just Uber or walk. Staff was nice about making sure we had our waters every time and towers.

I went with a friend to see the air and water show on the lake front, the hotel room was so beautiful, so as the lake view. This hotel has amenities that surprised me. Started with the lobby, very spacious with cozy places to sit down and relax, the reception desk very well located, the breakfast room, the bar, First, his location is in the right spot on the beach. The breakfast was just amazing. We had a table outside with two amazing and friendly servers, Ana and Mou. They're instantly turned to be friends 🧡. We had later a table outside to watch the air and water show, with amazing drinks 🍸. Mou was very attentive to our table all the time. We had a great time there, almost missing my stay. I totally recommend this hotel, if you are looking for nice views, amazing food and drinks, 👏 amazing rooms, friendly staff.I will return soon.

Love this hotel. Ultra modern look. The room design with the L-shaped built-in couch was really clever Use of space versus a separate couch. Makes me want to do the same thing in my house. The backlit wall covering was also really cool. Staff were helpful and accommodating and the location was great. The 6th floor Terrace is a great place to watch the Navy pier fireworks.

Awful!!! the thing that pisses me off the most is how they stopped my door dash drivers from delivering to my room and then they don’t even have the audacity to bring the food to your room. Ya know every single other W HOTEL we’ve ever stayed, at either allows u to buzz up door dash OR the employees of the W hotel will bring your food up to you. Absolute trash service. Also this hotel is extremely run down. It’s poorly renovated. 3 or 4 elevators were broken during our stay.Let’s not forget they gave us a room (we paid $489 a night for) and the couch was broken( it was sagging in and couldn’t sit on it without falling in). They then moved us to a new room… and the new room had stains on the bed linen. This hotel is like a motel that tries to be nice. I’m so livid. I then asked for a microwave since they wouldn’t let me door dash driver bring my food up and i was naked in the shower so my food sat down there for 10 min getting cold. Had they delivered to the door, i would’ve hopped out but I had to dry off, put clothes on and it was just such a mess. Anyways. They called and said they didn’t have any microwaves to bring up and i could heat my food up in the lobby. Piss poor service. The absolute worse W hotel we’ve ever stayed at. Me and my friend always stay at w hotels and we spend THOUSANDS on these hotels. Usually up to $800 a night. This is unacceptable and this hotel needs new management or to be torn down. Absolutely disgusting and filthy… rude staff as well. They won’t care if you pay $489 a night. They don’t care about you.

Perfectly located if you plan to tour downtown Chicago. It's a very short (maybe 5 min?) walk to the Navy Pier, and another 5-10min walk in the opposite direction to get to Michigan Ave (the shopping area). The "Big Bus" (hop-on-hop-off) bus stop is at the navy pier and you can get to all of the tourist spots on that tour bus, so that makes this hotel very central and easy for tourists. The hotel and rooms are a little beat up and you can tell it's an older hotel that's had a coat of paint slapped on it, but it's updated and nice enough for a mid-grade hotel. If you have a lake view room, you can watch the fireworks at the navy pier on Saturdays from the comfort of your room. However, if you're sensitive to noise, you're going to hear the Highway and the elevators all night long. It didn't bother me, but it was constant and it was loud and if anyone else complained about it I would understand. There's a nice long wall-length couch in the room which is nice, and plenty of counter space in the room itself. No counter space in the bathroom which makes it hard to get ready if you use makeup and a blow dryer or have any products you need to spread out. Lighting is also terrible (too low for getting ready). There is only one hook on the wall for towels (or toiletry bags, or robes, or wash rags), so if you're more than 1 person in the room that's gonna be difficult.Very little interaction with staff. They were around but rarely spoke or acknowledged anyone. They serve coffee in the morning but by 8:30am on a Monday both were empty and 11 of us stood there waiting for a half hour even though at least 3 of us asked for more. One staff member even told us that if it was out then we wouldn't be getting anymore for the day (even though it's supposed to be served until 10am). They did eventually bring it out, but people were annoyed because they had to go to work.Overall it was a nice enough hotel and would stay there again, but if you want more amenities or a newer, more updated hotel, you might look elsewhere. For tourist purposes, this place is good.

I recently stayed at the W Chicago hotel and had a fantastic experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating, making me feel welcomed from the moment I arrived. The room was spacious, clean, and beautifully decorated with modern furnishings. The bed was comfortable and I had a great night's sleep. The hotel's amenities were top-notch, from the fitness center to the on-site restaurant. I also loved the rooftop bar with stunning views of the city skyline. The location of the hotel was perfect, with easy access to shopping, dining, and attractions.Overall, I highly recommend the W Chicago hotel for anyone looking for a stylish and luxurious stay in the Windy City. I will definitely be returning in the future.
