If you want to sleep with bed bugs, then this is the hotel for you. Even after trying to do my due diligence by spraying with Lysol and wiping the entire room, changing my sheets, requesting a new mattress pad (bc when I went to change my sheets, I discovered the old mattress pad full of matted hair and debris), and using my own towels…I still had company while sleeping. I notated the mattress was old too (it had July, August, Sept…I stayed in October). Unfortunately this was the same weekend as a football game so the hotel was booked, but honestly I wouldn’t want to stay in another room anyway. It’s frustrating when we have gone through a time such as Covid-19, and hotels and other establishments still don’t take cleanliness serious. I also had hair in my shower and on the wall of my shower. I hate to think of what I may go home with. This was a horrible experience. One of the front desk managers told me (prob in a joking manner) that his housekeeping staff labeled me as “bougie” bc of the changes I made to my room…THIS IS WHY. I never want to be uncomfortable where I lay my head.
Great location and friendly staff. The hotek looks like it has on-going construction and the hall were littered with construction debris. Overall a decent experience, but the cleanliness just doesn't measure up.
I feel like hotels should contact you when they're doing construction/remodeling. It was loud when we first checked in due to that. 1 elevator we got on was completely gutted and very sketchy. There is 1 doorway to go to 2 elevators and it gets congested there with any more than 3 people. Fire alarm went off on our first day. False alarm I guess because fire department didn't stay long. Our room was on the street and we had no idea at check in. IT WAS LOUD. We were on the 3rd floor and heard people screaming at each other outside at night (plus cars and could hear every word of their music) and barely got any sleep. I had booked a whirlpool room and it didn't have one, only a shower. Bathroom wasn't user friendly. No towel rack so towels were sat on sink where the hand soap would drip onto it because the bottle was attached to the wall. Weird setup overall. Parking lot was tiny but charged you $16 a day, plus taxes on that too I guess. There's no way I would pay 5 star prices for this hotel again when it looked and felt 1 star at best. Horrible experience. You could walk to restaurants and the blanket was soft. Those are about the only good things I can say.
Probably one of the best Hampton Inn's I have stayed in. The front desk lady, Lillie, was the BEST front desk attendant I have ever interacted with. I had a small issue in the room where the water in the toilet and sink was brown but then it cleared up after flushing various times and letting the sink water run for a couple of minutes. I went downstairs and asked if any other guests had the same issue and she told me that the hotel was getting some work done with their water that day and they had to stop the pipes during the day. She profoundly apologized and offered to take off the $11.99 daily parking fee during my whole stay. The following day, she also provided me 5,000 HH bonus points. Not only that, but she even offered to help me out with an issue I had with my car at 10:30pm at night. Lillie was such a nice and kind, thoughtful front desk attendant and Hilton must ensure they keep her for the long haul. You must ensure she get a nice holiday bonus at the end of the year! The rooms seemed to be have been recently updated. The hotel even had a happy hour Sun-Thurs where you can get either a beer or a glass of wine and had cookies and popcorn! I have stayed in many Hampton Inn's and this was only the second time I have seen a happy hour at a Hampton Inn. Breakfast was standard Hampton Inn breakfast. They are still undergoing renovations, but it didn't affect my stay at all. I would say this hotel is probably the BEST hilton you can go to in columbia besides Hilton Columbia Center. Lots of the other hilton brands don't have good reviews in the area. I usually avoid Hampton Inn's and try to go for the "higher brand" ones such as Embassy Suites, HGI, Homewood, but this Hampton Inn is way above your average, typical Hampton Inn!
Updating & truly pet-friendly! Everything was in the process of being updated (July 2023). The medians were neatly sodded and trimmed. The room was like new. They thoughtfully provided bags for pickup after our furry friend. The $75 pet fee was reasonable. The location was not ideal for me but could be perfect for someone else. We were there on a weekend and turned in to parking from a street alive with partiers. The parking was full. I suspect some bar visitors took advantage of the open gate that is probably a temporary condition for renovation. Appears to be great places to eat within walking distance too.
Was in a convenient area and was perfect for one night. The service was wonderful, everyone was so so kind and professional. The lovely lady at the front desk was so kind and personable. She even remembered us in the morning and asked how our evening was as we attended the concert the night before. The rooms were very clean, but they do need a little TLC and updating. Breakfast was very good although there were not many options. overall would stay again if I needed to for a night
When I first pulled into the hotel I was playing Tool on the sound system. I pulled up a little past the covered area in case someone with mobility issues needed that space. When I shut off my vehicle the woman that was working at the front desk ( I feel badly I don't remember her name) said " You don't have to shut it off while Tool is playing." It was good to have a commonality with her. I knew she was going to be a good person and I was right. She was very professional and helpful and aided in making my stay better. ( I was hungry after working at 2 different sites and then driving 3 hours to get to the hotel. Atthe later hour she was great at letting me know what was available at that hour.) The room was very nice and comfortable. The location close to the highway was a bonus. For those that have family at Clemson it's especially good.
Our first room had a visibly soiled pull out couch, blood stained sheets and dried (mud?) on the floor by our bed. The pool was closed during our stay (a main reason we chose this hotel). They were quick to offer us a second room so we packed up and moved to another room with another visibly soiled couch (it was so bad we put a blanket down to sit on it) and a broken lock on the adjoining room door. The hot breakfast was a pancake machine and biscuits and gravy (the biscuits and the juice were gone and we rang the bell at the front desk a few times and waited 20 minutes before going into the restocking area ourselves and getting our own biscuits out of the fridge in the service room) everything was either gone or near empty they were out of juice by 7:30 am and the worker at the front desk was gone all morning. I never leave bad reviews but I wanted others to be aware of what they were getting into with this place.
The room was big enough for my mom to have a wheelchair and walker in thereand plenty of extra space. I wish I knew everyone's name so that I could thank them personally. My mom is 93 and everyone that worked there and the guests made her feel very comfortable. We were there for my grandson's graduation from the Army but if I need a few days away I would definitely go back. I highly recommend this hotel.
We had a lovely lady training in a young man upon checkin. She was wonderful, in kindly training him and making sure all our needs were met. The best part is that her happy personality shown through, instead of the robotic check-ins that I normally get. The mini pancake maker was a cool bonus in the morning for breakfast. Room was clean, plenty of towels, AC was running in room before arrival (super muggy out, so very much appreciated), and it was very quiet. For the lower cost of this room, I was happily surprised at the quality of our 2 night stay for our son's graduation from Basic Training at Fort Jackson (about 10 minute drive).
