We had a very enjoyable stay. The staff is very hospitable. They even let us check in early. The beds and pillows were so comfortable and the sheets and blankets smelled good! I got the best sleep ever. The breakfast was decent and the ladies worked very hard to keep everything stocked and cleaned. For those that complain about the moisture, it’s on the sea wall. By the ocean! There was a little moisture on the main floor, but it wasn’t bad. The bathroom had a little bit of a musty smell but nothing too terrible. Also free parking for your cruise! I will definitely be using this hotel from now on when I cruise out of Galveston.
Had a conference at a hotel downtown, but they sold out. I decided that if I had to book a hotel and drive to the conference, I would get something with an ocean view. I knew the hotel was on the cheaper side and you get what you pay for. The hotel is dated and the service is hit or miss. But I got a good ocean view.
Great hotel before a cruise! Stay the night and leave your car for free. Most times cheaper than the parking at the pier. Super comfortable rooms, beds, pillows, etc.
This is a great property located at the end of Seawall Blvd. We have stayed twice and had good experiences. Clean rooms, nice staff, convenient location, and the benefit of being able to leave your vehicle on property while going on a cruise at no charge. No need to pay port parking fee. Breakfast included in the rates. They have a nice pool area we have not used due to time of year we were there.
Wish I would’ve read more reviews. We stay at Best Westerns often. Do yourself a favor and choose another Galveston hotel. We stayed here on 9/21/2023. This was our first visit to Galveston. We stayed at this location before our cruise. We didn’t have our own transportation. Yes, it’s near the beach but, if you’re looking for QUALITY eating establishments or local sights, you will walk at least 2 miles (most of them are further than 2 miles) one direction. You can however, use a ride share. The lobby and pool looked nice, though we didn’t utilize them. Our room was not nice! The carpet or the pad had been damaged so the floor was lumpy. We tried to call the front desk with the phone in our room but, it wasn’t even connected to the jack or in working order, so we used our cell phone. The furnishings were old and worn. The closet and ironing board were also musty and dated. Under the sink in the bathroom had not been cleaned. We decided that we wanted to be closer to the main sights and restaurants so we only stayed one night, switching to another property. This property makes our list of top 5 to never stay at again and so far we only have 3 on the list! One night stay was too much, especially for the cost!
Booked here the night before a cruise because of the parking and shuttle service offered to the port. Our stay was great! The lady at the front desk was very friendly, accommodating and informative. We checked in pretty late and she made the experience pleasant for us as we had been driving for the last 7 hours. The rooms were clean and comfy, I'm sure the balcony view was great but lots of fog this time. I had to take one star because of the breakfast, very few options. Either way this is a great place to stay before your cruise.
Not a bad hotel IF you are able-bodied!Older hotel that's a bit run down, BUT you can tell improvements have been made making it adequate for able-bodied individuals.. Newer furniture, newer beds, main area of hotel was clean and attractive looking, hotel room was ok. Really worn carpeting, Accessible bathroom was nice sized and easily accessible BUT the shower has not been properly cleaned for quite awhile because when I was assisting my disabled husband to shower, the floor of the shower was so slick from years of soap scum or some other slippery residue that we both fell. Walls are also vey thin, you will hear what the people in the rooms next to you are discussing. Also do not use their shuttle service if you are disabled because for our return trip the shuttle driver left us waiting for 2 hours then knowing my husband was in a wheelchair but could transfer the only seat remaining when he did finally return for us was in the back where there was no way to load my husband. We ended up riding in a different shuttle altogether becausemy husband was already left in the heat too long (resulting in my stroke Survivor husband getting heat stroke and an emergency room and hospital stay.) Overall not a bad hotel UNLESS you are disabled in any way. If you are disabled, or even have mobility issues, it is NOT a safe place for you to stay!!!!!
The wall paper is coming off all over their building, giving it a very run-down and worn out feel. The breakfast was mediocre, but clean and fresh. The room we stayed in was adjacent to the main lobby and we heard every guest in the vaulted ceiling area loud and clear, all night long.>> If you are staying here before a cruise, please beware. They charge you $25 per person for round-trip shuttle service. But Sergio (the driver) is a bit of a jerk. On our return to port I guess we didn't call 'soon enough' because we sat on the curb waiting for him for over an hour, and acted like it was my fault. I called several times and finally found out that he wasn't planning to get to us for another hour after that. We called an Uber that was there in 3 minutes, so we wouldn't miss our flight. Just poor communication on Comfort Suites's part, which made us sit with our luggage on concrete for 60+ minutes. Could have been avoided if they actually talked to you.
This is our favorite place to stay the night before we go on a cruise and they allow us to park in their secure parking area for the duration of our trip. They also offer a shuttle service to and from the dock. Large clean rooms and a Continental style breakfast. Highly recommend! Also great location next to the sea wall and close to lots of shopping areas.
The people that worked there were nice and the front desk was especially friendly. The room had old scratched up furniture and was run down. The caulking was coming off around the tub. Room service is on the 3rd day...we stayed two. Ugh! Would not recommend until they put some effort into a bit of a remodel. It's beside a movie theatre, which is good for the rainy days.
