Great experience, kudos to Byron Doolittle the bartender which advised greatly on dining ,discounts etc.. comfortable beds and a great price.definitely will return to this establishment in the future. Highly recommended.
Our room was very tight for 2 adults & 2 kids very close to every thing which is why we booked here. We had breakfast all three days of our stay over Thanksgiving as well as Thanksgiving Dinner in the restaurant. Every thing was great and the staff is so friendly & accommodating
We have stayed at this property numerous times, often not having made our reservation until the day of our stay. Have never been turned away due to a lack of room availability.Entire property is extremely clean, well maintained, with plenty of safe & secure parking, and lots of lighting to ensure safety. Elevators are prompt and very spacious. Room was priced very competitively, and very reasonably.Ours was a king room with an electric fireplace, a very comfortable mattress and bedding, easy to control HVAC, clean and roomy bath, and a fabulous big flat screen tv with lots of crystal clear cable channels! We also had a mini-fridge that kept our water and sodas perfectly icy cold.Staff were all courteous and helpful. Very convenient to shops, restaurants and attractions nearer to the middle and south end of the Parkway (entrance to Smoky Mountain National Park), but tucked away on the peaceful, quiet, back side nearer to the river. We did see pets/dogs (not service animals) in some rooms. Wasn’t aware they were allowed. May want to check to make sure before bringing yours. We may have seen “stowaways”.
Dirtier than I remember a Hilton ever being. Bathroom had hair and dirt in the shower. Fridge was dirty and broken inside. Watched front desk person give away food that he charged our family for. Hot tub was missing calk in between the stone seats that left sharp edges that are dangerous. Elevator had light bulbs that unbearably heated up the space. Food service closed down earlier than published hours and refused to serve us. Front desk person told us we could buy bagels from the food service before they opened and pay at the front desk. The next morning, food service refused. Housekeeping entered our room and left the door open prior to final check out time while we were trying to empty our room out and put our belongings in our car.
We booked the hotel for a conference we were attending. We booked 7 rooms for 4 nights. The location was good and within walking distance to everything. As soon as we checked in we noticed they did not offer safes in the room, which I found odd. During our second day there I came back to my room and noticed someone went through my stuff and my wallet was left on top of my purse. When I opened my wallet I noticed I was missing all my cash (over $300). I hate to accuse people of anything, especially because I did not request room service, housekeeping, towels, or anything so no one else, besides me, should have been in my room. I went to find other people that I was with, and ask them to go through my things to see if I just miss placed my money. After we couldn’t find it one of them urged me to go report it to the front desk. I went downstairs and asked if they could check the cameras and to see if anyone had keyed in my room while I was not there. They confirm that I was not the only person that complained about missing items and stated that they knew the person that went in my room and he was one of their employees. They had him on video and he scanned his key to get into my room. I then had to go upstairs and have everyone else who we were with check their rooms. Another individual we were with was missing all of her cash. I came downstairs and gave her room number to the desk. They said that they were going to call the police and file a report. The police came and I gave them my information. it was noted that before the police came they fired their suspect employee and let him go home so the police did not have time to question him. After that two days went by and I didn’t hear anything from the hotel. Please note like stated above, we paid almost $6000 for 4 nights 7 rooms. No one from the hotel reached out or attempted to make us whole. I went downstairs a few days later and explain to the manager that I was upset and felt I should be compensated the money that I was out since they didn’t have safes in the room and their employee was given access to my room. She said she would see what she can do. Later that day, there was an envelope at the front desk for me with $300 in it. No one was apologetic. No one offered even a breakfast coupon and I have still not heard from the hotel. I understand that things happen, but they are customer service for a Hilton was subpar. I’m not looking for anything for free, but not even a breakfast coupon or a call from the general manager.
Room gets 2 stars. Tub shows wear, bathroom door drags on frame, cockroaches in the bathroom. The rest of the room was neat and tidy and the beds were nice. Service was great. Only had limited contact with front desk, but all was very good. We got 2 bottles of water from the front desk and they didn't bother charging us. That was a very nice gesture. Location is fantastic. We only moved the car one time to drive to Pigeon Forge. Everything in Gatlinburg is within walking distance of the hotel which was fantastic.
Everything was amazing and we would have given it a 5 star, except for one thing … the temperature in ALL common areas. We couldn’t enjoy the nice lobby, amazing bartenders, or even walking to our rooms because it was so hot. We thought it was just a summer issue since it was the middle of July, until we noticed every common area thermostat (in locked boxes) were set to 74-76 degrees. It’s A HILTON!!! Don’t skimp on air conditioning please. Side note: our room was a very comfortable temp, where we could control it.
I booked our hotel room on November 3rd well in advance of our vacation which was due to begin today 11/24. I spoke to a lovely lady on Saturday 11/22 who informed me we were confirmed and she sent me the pre registration forms which I completed after receiving (again this was 24 hours before check in). My family and I began the long drive from Central Florida and were 45 minutes from our destination “rivers edge inn” at approximately 7:00pm and received a text message explaining there were no rooms available and that I had to speak with hotels.com/expedia to rebook elsewhere. Here is the problem… it’s the Sunday before Thanksgiving in a tourist driven town. Not only is it the weekend before Thanksgiving I’m traveling with two small kids and a pregnant wife and our family dog for the holiday. I called the river’s edge hotel and spoke to a man with questionable English skills who in the nastiest of attitude explained that they had no rooms available and it wasn’t there problem. I explained that I had already pre registered and received confirmation of the booking yesterday morning from his associate to which he said computer error nothing i can do call Expedia. Just think in a tourist driven environment you’d assume they would have given the slightest care about the situation and they didn’t. Disappointing for our first try at this hotel. Never made it through the door and never will now. Thanks for starting off our vacation in the worst of ways. In the bright side I found a microtel hotel in Sevierville that was great. Disappointed doesn’t begin to explain it.
Very disappointed with quality of the room and customer service. Mattress was comfortable, but placed on metal type frame which creaked when you shifted. TV/remote did not work, and no working replacement offered, although Gavin was very nice and attempted to fix but unable. Manager/Rebekah was horrible the next am at checkout and lacked appropriate customer service befitting her job title. She offered 10% discount for whole stay without a working tv, but said would need to call Gavin to ensure what I said was correct. He was supposed to leave her a message but didn't. And then when I asked for her initials re: 10% discount, she threatened to call the police because she "was being bullied." I'm 52 yrs old, when I ask for evidence in writing before I leave to corroborate her offer...that's a paying customer's wise business decision, not grounds for having the poor police department involved. I was not only offended, but in disbelief. Sad day when appropriate customer service isn't offered. This hotel is decently updated per pictures years ago, but in dire need of updates including shower caulk, recent leak on ceiling above fireplace, and exposed gas fireplace valve/turn off. Would not think safe for children. They did not honor internet price of $112 which is appropriate pricing for this caliber of hotel, and when I saw the wrong price on receipt at check-in, Gavin said he couldn't correct. Only the manager could the next day. And then she denied price adjustment the next morning. Steer clear. Plenty of other hotels with quality rooms and appropriate customer service professionals.
Enjoyed our stay at River Edge. Rooms were clean and beds were comfy. Thanks Carolyn for being very accommodating and your recommendations.Would stay again.
The location was great it was within walking distance to town and front desk was very nice. However the rooms were so dark and dingy and everything seemed new but also worn out.The couch was gross as well as the shower had quit a bit of mold. The outside is extremely run down and the property looks nothing at all like the photos online. They advertise the clorox machine however I never once seen one on the cleaning cart and the breakfast room they have online dosen't look anything like that either or the pool.
We stayed here June 17 thru 19th. I can list a few things that need to be addressed but ill just cover the main issue we had. MOLD , Black Mold all over the shower ceiling and tile in the bathroom. Its not ok to charge any guests any amount of money to have MOLD in rooms.. Its unhealthy to say the least... I did inform them ia the text line they provide and i got a thank you for letting us know. We probably should of left that day but we were just there before we camped in National Park and didnt have any other options at that time. We wont be back to this establishment. Not sure how this is a 4star rated hotel
River Edge Inn is super-convenient to the entrance to Great Smoky National Park and walking distance to pretty much every restaurant and tourist site in Gatlinberg. The get and go breakfast was good enough to start us on our way. The bed was comfortable although very high off the ground. It was a platform bed, and a thinner box spring would have worked just fine. A negative was the extreme dimness in our room (103). Even with an additional lamp, it was impossible to read anything unless it was held right under the lamp. The bulbs must have been 40W at the most. It was nothing like the photos on their website, which show brightly lit rooms. The staff was super-friendly and helpful.
Nice little Inn for our 4 day trip. Rooms were spacious. Staff was very friendly and helpful in office. We had the room with the jetted tub which I thought would be nice to sit and relax. The only thing the husband and I did not like is that you had to crawl into jetted tub just to take a shower.
