This was an incredible and memorable experience staying here. I have never felt more welcomed and pampered! The homemade cookies were to die for. 15 minute walk from downtown was perfect for travelers. They even had live music Saturday night!! Lots of fun. Can’t wait to go back.
I had the most delightful stay at 1900 Inn on Montford! From the moment I arrived, I felt welcomed like family. The hosts were incredibly warm and attentive, going out of their way to ensure every detail of my stay was perfect. The room was impeccably clean, beautifully decorated, and had every amenity I could ask for. I especially loved the cozy touches, like the plush bedding and cookies on demand.Breakfast was an absolute highlight—fresh, homemade, and absolutely delicious! The location was ideal, with stunning views and easy access to downtown Asheville. It was the perfect blend of tranquility and convenience.I can’t recommend this place enough. Whether you’re looking for a romantic getaway, a relaxing retreat, or a base to explore the area, this bed and breakfast is a gem. I’ll definitely be back!
This place is our dream getaway! We absolutely love every single thing about it! It's a perfect stay in a perfect location with an absolutely 💯 lovely family staff. We have enjoyed several rooms there, and they're all wonderful. Definitely recommend! 💞
We had the most delightful stay at the Inn! Our hosts could not have been more kind or more gracious. We stayed at the Inn for our Babymoon and could not have asked for a better experience - Willie and Shawnee even gave us a very sweet baby gift! We felt spoiled by the whole experience - our room, the Thomas Wolfe, was very spacious, super comfy, and had the most amazing bathroom. The breakfasts were delicious and then the homemade cookies that were always available were the cherry on top. The Inn was also conveniently located within walking distance to several great restaurants and it was easy to get to downtown. We look forward to returning!
The comfy, stately, plush ambiance at The 1900 Inn on Montford made our stay in Asheville fun and memorable. Our hosts, Willie and Shawnie Gruber are a great team. They’re fun, informative, kind and helpful! They certainly know how to make each guest feel at home and have an uplifting experience. It’s no surprise they’re in an elite group of Bed and Breakfasts/Inns called the select registry. Our room, the Fitzgerald was spacious and cozy with a lovely fireplace. Shawnie had a vase filled with fresh flowers and a handmade card placed in our room for our anniversary. She even did the calligraphy herself. Such a beautiful gift, we were very touched.Shawnie’s assortment of freshly baked cookies were set out daily with other snacks in the bright sunny sitting room, where tea, coffee and assorted beverages to go were available. The impressive way the cookies were packaged with Shawnie’s handmade labels, was another lovely touch.A lot of thought and care was also put into the 3 course breakfasts served daily at 9am. The fresh berries, croissant bread with the egg fried in the middle and spice cake with cream cheese frosting were simply divine. We found that the breakfasts fortified us most days until dinner. We were grateful and enjoyed how our hosts combine a historical experience with classy comfort and community at 1900 Montford Street.Thank you so much!
Willy and Shawnie are the best hosts and have made this B&B one of the best lodging venues we have experienced. The food and ambience were superb. They made our anniversary very special.
Willy and Shawnie are amazing. We loved our stay at the 1900 Inn on Montford. We loved the music on Saturday night. The coffee was outstanding. We walked to dinner. We stayed in the carriage house in the William Morris suite. Fireplace was warming, steam shower was a must. Hot tub in room exceptional. My wife and I couldn’t say enough niceties about this place. We loved it here and hope to visit again someday soon. Thank you for sharing your beautiful home with us. David and Liz
A delightful first visit which is sure to be our go to place in Asheville! So many personal touches by truly thoughtful hosts. An unexpected upgrade, a bottle of Prosecco and sweet note for our anniversary and the delightful breakfasts, all made our stay wonderful. But the Innkeepers are the highlight of the Inn. Such a friendly and welcoming pair. We hated to leave. But we will back!!!
Just got home from another wonderful stay at 1900 Inn on Montford. We stayed in Zelda, it is spacious suite with 2 bedrooms and a comfortable sitting area. The bathroom was remodeled this year and includes a steam shower and a beautiful soaker tub! The weather was great for walking and hiking, ask Willy for recommendations on the best places to go…..he knows them all! Already planning my next trip to Asheville and will definitely be staying at 1900 Inn on Montford! 1900 Inn on Montford = DESTINATION in Asheville!!
We didn't want to leave. My Husband and I recently stayed in the Cloisters Suite at the 1900 Inn on Montford and had an amazing time. Willy and Shawnie made us feel so welcomed and the Cloisters suite was private, beautiful, comfortable, spacious, clean and quiet . The three course breakfast each morning was above and beyond. Something different each morning and not your average hum drum breakfast. Also, let's not forget Shawnie's homemade cookies throughout the day. On our arrival, we were greeted by the Conceriege, Christine, who showed us around our suite. Also greeting us were fresh flowers, Asheville chocolates and champagne.... Wow! They also have Saturday evening porch music with coffee, wine and craft beers, so much fun. This is a first class Bed and Breakfast that we highly recommend. The title of my testimonial is , didn't want to leave and that is how my Husband and I judge a vacation getaway. If you don't want to leave, then you know it was the right choice.PS. We love it so much, we have booked another date!Vicki and Jimmy Grady
My wife and I returned here and stayed in The Cloisters. It has been several years since we have been here. Under new management and many needed upgrades and refurbishments have been implemented. An absolutely blissful experience. Quiet, relaxed setting near downtown. Walking distance from wonderful food and drinks.Very attentive service with respect for your privacy. Coffee, Expresso, gourmet desserts and snacks throughout the day if you desire, All were exquisite. Everything we loved about this place was on point. Thank you to everyone involved for making us feel welcome and comfortable. Our Doberman Ronin Lucius was also very pleased. Definitely our place to stay in Asheville.
Had a 9 day stay at the 1900 Inn on Montford at Christmas time and Willy and Shawnie were so hospitable and kind. Everyday there was a different delicious breakfast. We were there on a Saturday for live music, what a treat! They gave great recommendations for dinner spots and activities to do locally. We stayed in the Zelda room the suite on the top floor was beautiful, this room would be fantastic for people looking for a 2 room suite. Loved the whole Inn, the history, the decoration, the cleanliness, and the sheets! Will definitely be going back for more stays in the future!
There are a number of lovely B&Bs in Asheville, many with strong ties to the rich history of the town. If all you’re looking for is a place to sleep, any of them will do. But if you’re looking for an incredible experience with superb breakfasts and an amazing attention to detail, stay at the 1900 Inn on Montford. Our small business Knitrino hosted a knitting retreat in Asheville that was held across a number of B&Bs in the area, and the very best decision we made was adding 1900 Inn on Montford to the lineup. Willy & Shawnie were incredible, like adding a full team to our tiny staff of 2! They coordinated so many things that were well outside the purview of innkeepers, from making sure we had plenty of excellent wine and beer at our opening night party, to introducing us to local chefs, scheduling porch music to align with our party, and even making a stencil from our logo for the powdered sugar that was dusted on breakfast. They accommodated our every request, and even accommodated things we couldn’t have asked for. When we didn’t have a gluten-free option for our dessert the second night (at a DIFFERENT venue) they whipped up a batch of gluten-free cookies for us, to which one guest proclaimed “This is the best cookie I’ve ever eaten!”The inn itself is exquisite, with large comfortable beds and stunning bathrooms. The breakfasts are outstanding. But hands-down the best part of the 1900 Inn on Montford is the innkeepers–they’re the reason we’ll come back!
Beautiful bed and breakfast that has everything you could ask for and more. Everything you see is pleasing to the eye and it's simply magical to stay in one of the rooms in the carriage house. The location is close to downtown Asheville, we've actually walked into downtown before when feeling particularly active. The best parts of staying here are the owners and the breakfast. The owners are very kind and friendly people who you can tell truly enjoy what they do. The breakfasts that Shawnie makes are amazing. My husband and I talk about the food all year and savor every bite when we get to return.
This place is very special. We have stayed at many luxury hotels around the world but we keep coming back to the Inn. We have stayed twice in the Cloisters room and will absolutely be returning again. The room is fantastic - large, beautiful touches and amenities, and a luxury spa bathroom. Our most recent stay was right before Christmas and Shawnie and Willy made the room feel festive. We love their espresso/coffee machines, the best-weve-ever-had cookies, and the varied breakfasts. We got to enjoy live bluegrass music with a holiday twist in the Inn which was wonderful. The neighborhood is quiet and very walkable but also close to town and all the fun things to explore in Asheville.Simply put, there are no complaints. If you're like us, you'll also want to bring things home from the Inn to remind you of your time there like their sheets, blankets, and mugs. We're forever fans!
1900 Inn on Montford was an incredible find. The location is close to town and a central location for hiking spots. Which Willy is happy to recommend his favorite hikes and even helped us pick out which one we would be going to. Willy and Shawnie are the friendliest hosts and BEST cooks. We are still talking about the frittata and chocolate croissant we had on the last day. They really make you feel welcome and at home. We also loved getting to say hi to the bestest girl, Clementine! The room (William Morris) was incredible. It was spotless when we came in. The private courtyard was perfect to open our doors to and let our dog hang out in. The steam showers and jet tub were also perfect after a long day of hiking. Our favorite spot (& dogs) was sitting in front of the fireplace. We did not want to leave, even contemplated canceling our other next stop to stay a few more days in town. We will be back & recommending them to our family and friends.
The 1900 Inn on Montford is the prefect B&B experience!! Shawnie & Willy and the entire staff, are delightful and could not have been more inviting. They are the kind of people you meet and feel as if you have known them forever. The food was wonderful and Willy even help accommodate for my husband’s allergies. Highly recommend 1900 inn on Montford if you are looking for a B&B in Asheville. We can’t wait to plan another trip.
We just love staying here! The pet friendly carriage house rooms are ideal; private and easy for pet care. The bed and bedding was so comfy! The breakfasts are amazing, the owners went above and beyond to deliver us gorgeous vegan fare for breakfast each morning to meet our needs! The neighborhood is walking distance to downtown and the historic cemetery. We just can’t say enough about it all except that we do and will continue to return year after year!
I stayed at Inn on Montfort last weekend for my best friend’s wedding. As if spending a magical fall weekend in Asheville wasn’t perfect enough, our trip was elevated by the service and expertise of Willy, Shawnee, and Vanna. They were gracious, welcoming, accommodating, and entertaining hosts! The Inn felt like a secluded castle, and the breakfasts were incredibly flavorful and visually appealing. I cannot recommend this place enough! The entire place was spotless and tastefully decorated, the beds were SO comfortable, and they even had live music. The attention to detail and the incomparable hosts make this a truly wonderful home away from home. Book your room NOW!
Where do I begin? This fairytale oasis proved to be beyond our wildest dreams. The couple who own this place are able to anticipate every need of their guests, nourish them, and treat them like family. We rented out the entire inn for my wedding weekend and they went over and beyond to accommodate everyone who stayed & family who visited from out of town. Staying at this inn provided me with the most memorable and beautiful moments with my loved ones. Willie & his beautiful wife have infused the Inn on Montford with love, care, and beauty. I cannot wait to stay here again in the future. I cannot imagine an Asheville where the Inn on Montford & Willie & his wife don’t exist. So much love for this special place!!! ❤️
This is a quiet, lovely Inn!! The food at breakfast is fun, the coffee is great! They go out of their way to make sure you are well taken care of. I house itself is beautiful and you can just feel the history! I was up early and enjoyed my morning coffee on their back patio and had a snow-white type experience watching bluebirds that were on the chair and bushes all around me!! How can you not love that?Ample parking and easy access, the place is very clean and well kept. There is a certain help yourself vibe that i also enjoyed. While I have not seen all the rooms, I peeked around some and think they are all charming, I spoke with other guests, and they agreed.while I saw no families while I visited as a father of 4, I would certainly think this a family, or couples friendly place. sits on the top on my list of I'll be back! and the prices are great 7 minutes from Biltmore.
Don't look any further! Book now if you can!! Every moment of your stay is about service, cleanliness, and homeyness. Cheryl, Amber, and Chef Patrick (voila!) cracked the code for your stay and visit to Asheville. A healthy walking distance to all the downtown action and don't worry, they keep the light on for you. My wife and I can't wait to return and rinse/repeat the very same stay with you folks. THANK YOU and see you folks soon!!
We’ve been coming annually to the Beaufort House for 20+ years, gets better with each year. Rooms are excellent and your breakfast, by Chef Patrick, is very tasty and unique. Don’t pass up the chance to spend some time in a historic Inn. Can’t wait for spring to arrive and spend some time in peace and quiet of the huge front porch. A perfect Valentine Day stay.
Great location in a quiet area while still in walking distance to groceries, restaurants, coffee shops and bars.Room was a good size and pretty comfortable. I loved the shower. Breakfasts were great and accommodating to dietary needs.
Loved our stay! Room and house were clean, the hostesses were terrific, and the location is awesome! Just a short drive from downtown Asheville/biltmore/Grove park inn- this place is a gem! Breakfast was delicious and they go out of their way to make sure the guests are taken care of and dietary restrictions are observed. We stayed in the Savannah room which was amazing- huge shower, private deck, and gas fireplace! Absolutely would recommend for a nice place to stay that's close to activities
The Inn is beautiful. We stayed for a long weekend and enjoyed our stay. The home was well kept and clean. Convenient location. Everyone was very friendly. The breakfast was delicious. Check in and check out was quick and easy. Only reason for my 4 stars (I would give 4.5 if it was an option) - we stayed in one of the cottages (the largest but I cannot recall the name). There is no way to adjust the temp of the cottage. We were told it is controlled by the first cottage (I believe it is the property manager or someone that lives on site) and the temp is normally around 68ish. The very nice person checking us in did say if we are cold, we could text that person. However - not everyone would be comfortable doing so, myself being one of those people. I would never bother someone in their home because I am a bit cold. So while we were told about that “issue”, it was still a bit inconvenient when we woke up in the middle of the night freezing. The fireplace helped, but not enough. Other than that, things were wonderful. I would definitely recommend to others and would stay again.
Just book it! The few negative reviews may have been left by old crotchetty/snobby folks. We were in the area to visit the Biltmore (which was only about 15 min) & it was perfect! This place exhumes elegance & hospitality. Our flights were delayed over 3 hrs & the innkeeper left us complimentary wine in our room upon our arrival. My best friend has a gluten allergy & they were beyond accommodating for her breakfast. The room we stayed in was the Oak Terrace room. It had a private entrance off the rear part of the house. Everything was spotless. The bed was a bit firmer than I prefer, but we were so exhausted it wasn’t a big deal. Breakfast was delicious! The home is a historic relic, so yes its older so those of you highly critical about older homes, go stay at a Holiday Inn! The home has been well kept & super nostalgic….we loved it!
We enjoyed our stay at The Beaufort House Inn! The innkeeper was warm and hospitable. The check in staff was helpful and informative. The room was small but cozy. The water closet was exactly a water closet. Breakfast was plentiful and delicious! We look forward to returning in the Spring!
