My husband and I (from Michigan) came to NH to visit our cousins so the four of us came here as a couples getaway and loved it!! They have stayed here in the past and were so thrilled so show us their favorite spot. We were just as impressed. The first night, the four of us stayed together in the Showtime suite- we loved the theater, the tile decor, the jacuzzi, and even the bidet. ? We didn't get a chance to use the popcorn machine but so cool that was included. The second night-us couples split up and my husband and I stayed in the Deserted Island. Again- was super impressed. Amazing job with the design, structure, creativity, unique attention to detail with the decor and design overall. I had never been to a themed hotel before so this was a great first experience. We can't wait to come back! Even the lobby, shop, exterior design of the building were all extremely unique. Staff was great, everything very clean!
Very cool themed rooms. We got movie theater room. Very helpful and friendly staff. The only problem was 4 remote controls and a lot of problems connecting and controlling to the theater system. The screen is large and it has a good quality picture.
We are here on our 15 year anniversary staying in the Roman room. I want to give more stars if I could. Not only is the hotel INCREDIBLE from the lobby, to the bar, to the rooms, but the staff is beyond top notch. I travel a lot for work and stay at high end hotels, but the service from the staff here beats all of them hands down.
My kids and I stayed in the haunted castle. The attention to detail in this room was absolutely beautiful. We loved the fact that the scarey aspects of this room was essentially based on us. The more we moved the more it reacted. The food was great and the staff especially Katarina was great too. I can't wait to go again.
This was our first time visiting Adventure Suites and were disappointed by the quality of our stay. I booked a one night stay as a surprise for my fiancé and for the price you pay, the Wolf Den could use some updating (Chipping paint, bed was slanted, wifi for the TV didn’t work great, the door are so thin you can hear everything in the hallway). I also added on a massage table (which was folded up in the corner & not set up) and a sweet treat tray (which was in the fridge and not out) so it didn’t seem as much of a surprise for my fiancé since I had to find the items and explain them. The idea is great but their execution could use some work.
Paper walls in the Victorian room that border the bar. You will not be able to enjoy your room from 6pm-midnight because of this. And you will be woken up at 6AM when the staff unlocks the big door outside the room.[A guy plays guitar way too loud in the bar and I could hear conversations from the bar when sitting in bed. ]The only bathroom in the room has a door that doesn’t lock and has a sliver down the middle that you can just look through. [if you had a person on either side of the door you could still look at each other].The staff are super nice but look at the other reviews. Don’t waste your money, you are only paying for the aesthetic. It was interesting to do once but I do feel like I could have gotten so much more for my money elsewhere. Also I wish I was actually able to enjoy my room the whole time I was there. I didn’t sign up for there to be music practically pumped into my room numerous times and wouldn’t have made a reservation if I had known. [ have videos of the ridiculous volume]
Stayed in the Haunted Castle for one night with a group of 5 people. Here's the scoop:-An amazing experience. Pictures and descriptions that we could find in advance do not do it justice. Immersive, unexpected, surprising, and super-fun.-Pricey? Yes, but for a truly unique experience, totally worth it.-18 people? I can see how the beds can accommodate that many, but recommend a smaller group for max enjoyment (10-12).-Other stuff: Staff was great, service was great, food......also pretty great. Try any of the pizzas and ask for jello shots from the bar! Hot tub with open air view of the mountains was awesome in December and the staff brought us wool blankets out by the fire pit.
Had to give my room "Motorcycle Madness" 4 stars for the noticeable cheap damage repairs and the hardest bed I've ever slept on. The detailing was excellent though! 5 stars to cleanliness and 10 stars to the room service and staff! I will definitely be back to try another themed room! Thanks again for a great experience!
We stayed in the Victorian spa room. It was amazing! We were lucky enough to get a small tour and got to view a few of the other rooms. Every room exceeded my expectations!! The pics on the web do not do this place justice. It's beautiful and rich. Detail and quality everywhere. This is a must see experience.
I've been here twice, once for a vacation about 5 years ago and once for my honeymoon a month ago. Both times were incredible. I've stayed in The Jungle, Dragon's Lair, and The Cave. My favorite was the Dragon's Lair but all of the rooms were great! We spent time in the saloon, playing pool, outside by the firepit at night, and of course, in our room. All of the staff were amazing as well. I can't rave about this place enough. It is pricey but well worth the money.
We were late arriving at the hotel (10pm) so the key was in an envelope left attached to reception door for us, also giving directions to where our room was. Room was spacious and clean and had a balcony which was an added bonus, the bed was comfortable. There was no tea and coffee making facilities and no water in the room, but the letter said there was vending machines on the ground floor, unfortunately in our block the machine was out of order, so we walked to another block and all there was in there's was 2 bottles of water, put our $2 in and entered the number, nothing came out - tried again, didn't work... so we tried to get our money back and the machine didn't have enough change!! As we had flown in from Salt Lake to Boston and had had a long drive from the airport, we decided to just go to bed as we were shattered. Tea and coffee was available in reception the following morning. Due to being short staffed there was no room service or cleaning, but we only stayed 2 nights so that wasn't an issue. Location was good, walking distance to restaurants and a bar or two. It would have been nice to have been pre warned about the lack of facilities in the hotel prior to our arrival. All in all it was a pleasant stay.
After a high risk pregnancy and giving birth we wanted to go on a relaxing vacation and meet up with family. Well with a now 6 week old and 4 year old we came down with covid and had to cancel. We cancelled in advance; they refused to give us a refund because it wasn’t 48 hours! With covid spreading again I think it’s really inconsiderate they kept our money and never refunded us! I work in a hotel myself and this ; I never heard of! Will not be giving this place a chance ever.I should’ve read the reviews as others stated they kept their money too!
This place is a hidden gem in North Conway. My husband and I took a ride north to see foliage last week. It was a last minute decision and we had not planned to stay overnight. The weather was unseasonably warm and drove a bit further north than expected. We decided to find a place to stay for the night. Most of the hotels had no vacancies and we were about to just go home. We then stumbled upon Golden Gables Inn. It’s located on White Mountain Highway. Check in was easy. The front desk clerk was inviting and knowledgeable. Our room was clean and updated. The bedding, towels, and toiletries were quality products. It was quiet in the back of the hotel. We appreciated that it was walkable to many stores and shops. I wish we could have stayed for a few days. We’ll definitely be back!!!
Although this hotel is in a good location and all that's well and good, my top priority is cleanliness. We found a SIGNIFICANT amount of other people's hair all throughout our bed and sheets and pillows leading me to believe the sheets were never changed, which is just disgusting. Also makes me wonder how well the rest of the room was cleaned. Very disappointing, but like I said - aside from that (important element) all else with location, etc. is good.
I've been reading a bunch of the reviews here after having stayed for one night, booked more or less at the last minute, and I'd say most of the other reviews are quite accurate. The room was very clean and comfortable. I had one of the cheaper rooms closer to the roadside, with one king size bed. The little balcony out back was a nice touch, and the grounds with the pool looked very well kept and attractive, though, as it was rainy, I didn't really get to explore or take advantage of them.As a couple of other people have mentioned, they seem to be just a tad disorganized when it comes to check in and payment. My daughter booked the room for me with her credit card, but unlike other hotels, where I could still actually pay for the room with my own credit card upon check-in, they could not make that adjustment. Which is no big deal - I'll just have to pay her back. But I can see where there might be some difficulties with irregular payments such as a couple of people seem to have had. Also, it would have been really nice to have had a coffee machine in the room. They do have coffee/tea in the office (starting at 8:00 am), but I do like to have my coffee before I am completely up and about in the morning, and didn't want to have to go to the office in my nightie. There's a microwave, so even some instant coffe/creamer would have been fine. But overall, I would definitely come here again. The price is good, the rooms are very pleasant. The staff are very friendly, if just a little disorganized in some aspects. The location seems quite central to plenty of things in the area. I don't think there are any drawbacks severe enough that I would not recommend it. It might not be the height of luxury, but as nice, comfortable hotels go, you could do a lot worse!
If you enjoy being hung up on, being told to put ant traps down yourself in your infested room and not receiving a call back when asked for one - then enjoy your stay.
Going downhill quickly. Previous owner is gone and so is the good, friendly, clean staff!! Party central these last few stays. Won't be back. So much traffic now it can to be impossible to take a left!! No maid service, no tip, they won't give you fresh towels or make up the rooms anymore. Covid only made people lazy and cheap. People are ready to work, employers just won't hire.
I waited a year to review this hotel as I was not sure how the stay would be. I have been visiting the Golden Gables Inn for years, and we were devastated when we found out it sold. After reading reviews on Google and other travel websites we took the risk and booked this hotel to see if these negative reviews were true. As someone who has been visiting this hotel for years, I can tell you the stay was perfect. The rooms were clean, the pool area was clean, the property was getting taken care of, and I had no complaints. Many of the negative reviews that I see probably come from when the hotel sold. I stay here every year and in July of 2022, the stay was not perfect. We found food still behind a chair and the pool was not clean. Staying here in 2023 I can say that the hotel is perfect again like it used to be. Maybe a few differences but either way from someone who has been staying here for years, it was a good stay. I would recommend Golden Gables Inn, give it a try and you won't regret it. Thank you for reading my review!
Always drove by this place buy never stayed. Needed a place for a night and was pleasantly surprised! Excelent location, rooms were very clean, pool and other amenities. Walking distance from restaurants and shopping. Will stay here again!
First impression was great. We arrived very late our room key was in an envelope taped to the office door. the room was clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed. The next night while we were out we discovered our room was ransaked. Our luggage was gone through, our beds were used, shower gel was on the bed. a bible was on the floor in the bathroom. The toilet was used. The police came as did the manager. All were very nice. After they took pictures of the room, and viewed the security it was discovered that our room was returned into the system to be rented. A family was given our extra key and entered our room. Well that wasn't all. It was also discovered that the glider did not lock properly and our room was broken into by someone climbing over the wall. This person stole our dirty underwear. No I am serious. The nice people that were renters under our room told us about the family , and then about the man and women on our balcony. We were put up in the very nice town home over night. That was not secured either. I did get our money back about 6 weeks later. The manager was nice she tried the police did as well I did not like Any of her staff except Grace I think her name was. Everyone else seemed shady. It is a shame because it seemed so clean and nice and with security camaras safe. The pool is not secured. staff are NOT on the property so the teenagers just climbed over the fence and partied. Staff needs to stay and monitor property.
Very clean. The pool was still open even though it was after Labor Day and quite chilly. There were some teenagers enjoying it. If we had not had a private hot tub in our room I probably would have gone in that. Our room was nice with a jacuzzi tub. The grounds are beautiful and the playground is perfect for children to enjoy the afternoon. There is also a fire pit and barbecue area that we did not utilize but it looked like a lovely place to hang out. Located right near the shopping district and not a far drive to the scenic Village. Overall a good experience
Very clean rooms and grounds. No dust in rooms and beautifully kept gardens, you can tell they pay attention to detail. We got a room with a jacuzzi and was so nice to relax in after hiking! I would definitely stay here again.
