Thank you for a wonderful last minute stay. As bed and breakfast owners ourselves, we cherish the time we get when we can visit other bed and breakfast inns and enjoy the personal service we give to our own guests. This stay was close to home and was a great relaxing time to get away for the night. Breakfast was wonderful and the staff very professional and friendly.
We absolutely loved our stay at the Richard Johnston Inn! The staff was incredibly helpful and knowledgeable. Be sure to ask them about all of the history of the building and make sure to get to know your fellow guests over breakfast!
THIS WAS A WONDERFUL VISIT. LOCATION. PEOPLE. SERVICE. I GAVE THE ROOM A 4 BECAUSE THE HOT WATER WAS NOT VERY HOT...AND FOR ME PERSONALLY...THE ROOM WAS NOT VERY RESTFUL BECAUSE THERE WAS JUST TOO MUCH !! STUFF EVERYWHERE !!! IT WAS VERY CHAOTIC AND MADE ME A LITTLE EDGEY...NEXT VISIT I'M IN A DIFFERENT ROOM...CAN'T WAIT TO GET BACK...THANKS Y'ALL.
In an age when some hotels charge $5 for a bottle of water it’s amazing to see complimentary silver service trays with a full carafe of water together with a beautiful crystal whiskey decanter bottle loaded four fingers high. So classy!
My husband and I stayed here for a work trip. We needed breakfast before the 9 AM breakfast time because of a work commitment, and according to the website they are able to accommodate different breakfast times as long as you specify upon check-in. We let them know that we needed a different breakfast time when we made the reservation, but somehow it was still a surprise to the employees when we checked in. They told us they would put together a "to-go" breakfast for us. The "to-go" breakfast was a tiny muffin each that were left out overnight, all other guests were given a hot breakfast each day. The one morning we were able to make the 9 AM breakfast time we were given hard, dry, leftover French toast that the other guests had received the day before. We were incredibly disappointed since breakfast was included in the price of the stay for each night and all other guests were given a unique, fresh, hot breakfast each day. We were never given an equivalent breakfast experience as any of the other guests staying at the same time as us, and we're incredibly disappointed in this discrepancy.
We have stayed here many times, and in particular the room we were in this last visit. We always enjoy our stay. The location is really good although it is slightly noisy because of the street but there’s nothing you can do about that. One suggestion – because you are such a fine establishment, and everything is so nice, I would suggest you provide free soda and bottles of water rather than charging a dollar for it. It just seems a little cheap to do that and you did not do that before. Perhaps you could charge five dollars more for the rooms and include it. It is more in keeping with your overall excellent bed-and-breakfast and service.
I've stayed at the Richard Johnston Inn three times now. It's always such a great experience: the rooms are comfortable, the common areas are beautifully decorated, and the breakfast is always delicious. I also can't say enough about the staff - they are always so friendly and accommodating. The Inn also has a great location on Caroline Street so you are right in the middle of historic, downtown Fredericksburg and can walk to a large number of restaurants, bars, and museums. It's the perfect place to stay for a weekend getaway!
This place was nice and the staff working there was great. The staff was super helpful, friendly, and accommodating. They made sure we had what we needed as vegans. The room was comfortable enough and no real complaints there. The hotel is supposedly haunted so that wasn’t as fun to think about; but luckily no encounters. There’s always coffee, tea, and some snacks available. Not much on the water front but they fill your carafe when you ask. The breakfast can sometimes be a bit small. Especially for a grown man.
We have stayed at the Inn twice before and years ago. This experience was outstanding mostly due to Liz and Kelcie. These two incredible women made our stay memorable. From the gourmet breakfast(egg frittata and cherry topped french toast) to request for additional fresh baked cookies, nothing was too much for them to attend to.they have the Inn beautifully decorated for the holidays and everything was spotless. We enjoyed the stay stay so much that we are planning to return in the Spring. This is an incredible experience, thank you ladies!
We stayed here in September of 2022. Loved everything about it. The Old Town room was fantastic. Loved the history throughout the Inn. Great location, close to all the historic sites. Breakfast was great. We stayed on a Friday night and there was some street noise, a lot of people were out having a good time, but everyone settled down before midnight. Will definitely be back again. Thanks!
This location is beautiful, convenient and really special! The hosts have thought of everything, including brandy decanters all over the property and fresh cookies at all hours of the day. I cannot say enough good things about this property. We were here to visit with friends and used the outdoor courtyard to gather. It was perfect. Both buildings are a treat for the eyes and extremely comfortable. Will stay here again!
What a fabulous way to bring our family in for our son's wedding last weekend! The home was perfect for us to gather, relax, and spend time with each other, enjoying breakfast and a cup of coffee at the breakfast table and HUGE, full kitchen. We even had the space for the groom and best man to comfortably get cleaned up dressed for the wedding while visiting with their parents, grandfather and uncle. The staff is so accommodating, and will do everything to ensure that you are comfortable and well taken care of. Would not stay anywhere else in Fredericksburg!
Hotel and staff were great but beware the area! We parked our truck and trailer in this well lit and supposedly video surveiled parking lot at the front, left end of the parking lot. Came out to find our tailgate had been pried open with a crowbar. When police arrived we learned that the hotel video surveillance doesn't cover that area.Lots of concrete work trucks in the lot but ours was the only one hit. Likely construction workers looking for tools or other easy take.Just be careful to park where you know the cameras can see your vehicle so if it happens to you they have a chance of getting the bad guys.
This place has gone way downhill. I fell because the handicap rail came off the wall when I grabbed it. Customer service said the fall was my fault. When I complained that it was faulty workmanship on the installer they gave me a few points back in my rewards account. When I tried to use my rewards they have now taken my account out of their system! DO NOT STAY HERE!
Ok at best, def not a top rated hotel by any means. Needed a place to sleep while traveling North from Florida. Rugs were old and musty smelling. Front desk worker wore some sloppy sweatshirt, not professional. Sheets and walls had stains all over. It serves its purpose for a bed to get rest to continue a long trip directly off the i95, but I wouldn’t stay again.
1st time: 3 days stay - Breakfast wasn't that good, basically just cereals and a pan cake maker.2nd Time: 4 days stay - same story with Breakfast, wifi/Internet was giving problems whole week. Room cleaning wasn't proper this time. Water kept getting stuck in sink. Not happy with the stay this time.
Decent hotel, friendly staff, breakfast was basic but the stay was comfortable. Towels need changing as they were well worn and very scratchy. Good for a night stay
I’ll start with a positive. The front desk person was extremely nice and personable. Check in was quick. I stayed here overnight during a road trip. I’m thankful it was only one night because my room was we dingy, dirty and smelled old. A hole in the wall, visible stains on the floor and sofa. Walls were dingy. They need to clean this place and at least get rid of the hole in the wall: I couldn’t believe my eyes. The beds and sheets were clean thankfully and I didn’t see bugs. Would I stay here again? No. See pics. I think this was room 216
