How to get the most out of the romantic getaway in Michigan?
Maximizing a romantic getaway in Michigan involves a blend of planning and spontaneity to ensure every moment is cherished. Here’s how to make the most of your trip:
- Choose the Right Accommodation: Opt for a place that aligns with your idea of romance, whether it’s a luxury resort on Lake Michigan, a quaint B&B in Traverse City, or a historic hotel on Mackinac Island. Look for amenities like in-room fireplaces, spa services, or balconies with views to enhance the romantic atmosphere.
- Explore Local Wineries and Breweries: Michigan is home to numerous wineries and craft breweries, especially in the Traverse City area. Spend an afternoon tasting local wines or beers, which can be both relaxing and romantic. Many places also offer scenic vineyard tours.
- Enjoy the Natural Beauty: Whether it’s a sunset walk along the shores of the Great Lakes, a hike through the picturesque trails of the Upper Peninsula, or a leisurely stroll through the vibrant colors of an autumn forest, Michigan’s natural landscape provides a stunning backdrop for romance.
- Book a Couples Spa Day: Many resorts and hotels offer spa services, including couples massages. It’s a perfect way to relax and reconnect, surrounded by tranquility and comfort.
- Dine with a View: Seek out restaurants that offer not just exquisite food but also breathtaking views, whether it’s overlooking a sparkling lake, a bustling cityscape, or a serene countryside.
- Take a Cruise: Opt for a scenic cruise on one of Michigan’s many lakes or rivers. These cruises often offer dinner options, making for a memorable evening under the stars.

- Plan for Seasonal Activities: Tailor your visit to the season. Winter offers cozy fireside moments and snow-covered landscapes, perfect for skiing or snowshoeing. Summer and fall provide opportunities for beach days, boating, or attending one of the many local festivals.
- Keep Some Flexibility: While planning is key, leaving room for spontaneity can lead to unexpected discoveries and adventures, enriching your romantic experience.
- Disconnect to Reconnect: Take this time to truly disconnect from the digital world and focus on each other. The beauty of a getaway is in the shared experiences and uninterrupted time together.

I travel a lot and I have to say that those is the best place I have stayed. The staff is awesome and very friendly. It snowed and they cleaned off my car. The grounds are very beautiful and natural trails are wonderful. If I could give 10 stars I would. We are already planning our next stay. Thank you.

Stayed for a week in Feb 2024. Family of 3.Pro: Room was clean with no smell and well constructed, scenery was beautiful, breakfast was worthwhile and staff was very friendly. Loved the outdoor fireplace, trail by the lake and recreational room upstairs. Last thing, I love that they provide a mini free tea bar. They're wonderful!Con: Little to no air circulation in the jacuzzi/pool area makes it easy to overheat very quickly. I wish they had a fan running.Overall, exceptional and gorgeous lodge. We definitely recommend.

Came with my family, hoping to have a fun getaway. We ended up having a terrible time! The pool closes for people under 18 at 9. Although this is a good rule for little kids, my 15 year old was bummed when they kicked her out at 9. Walls are thin and showers are small. Staff is rude! Would not recommend!

The rooms were nice for the price paid. The location was perfect for where we were skiing. However we were unfortunately visited with some major issues. The staff are very unfriendly and abrasive. The walls in here are so small that for talking we got a noice complaint. The pool rules are out rages and we got kicked out at 230. I went here with a good idea but was taken down the the terrible staff that were harassing us.

Went here to have a good time, but ended up having a terrible time! The walls are thin and you can hear everything though them. Also the staff is rude and WILL yell at you. If your coming to Boyne don’t come here!

I had such a great time here. The room was great. I got the king bed Jacuzzi room and it fit my needs perfectly. The bed was large and comfortable. The two-person love seat was nice (also a pull-out bed). The balcony view of the river was beautiful. The TV was a nice amenity. Bathroom was clean and easily accessible. The Jacuzzi in the room was also awesome. At first, I thought it may be small and gimmicky, but it easily fit two people and it gets really hot.Aside from that, the lodge itself is great. The staff is always running around cleaning and providing room services. The continental breakfast is better than any continental breakfast I have ever had. Plus, the kind lady that serves breakfast is a treat. She was very kind and accommodating. The pool and hot tub area was great. Going in November, not many people were in there. They keep the pool at a very comfortable temperature and the jacuzzi is quite large. They keep a fire going outside at night and in the morning, so it was nice to sit out by a warm fire.Lastly, the loft area is where I felt the most at home. It is a cozy, dimly lit area full of things to do with great seating. There is a pool table, dozens of board games, big TV, and more. I really enjoyed this area as it makes you feel like you are in a big log cabin in the middle of the woods. All in all, Crooked River Lodge was worth every penny I spent and I will be glad to make an annual visit there moving forward.

I love photographing events at The Daxton. The Decor is really unique, which is great for pictures. The staff are also really helpful and the food is excellent! It's ideally located for pictures in and around Birmingham. I look forward to the next time!

An absolute great find! The trendy ambiance sets the perfect backdrop for a night of cool vibes and great drinks. Nick, the bartender, adds an extra layer with his skillful mixology and engaging personality. His concoctions are not only delicious but crafted with expertise. A great spot for a date night or just a place to hang out with friends.

First time staying here and definitely not the last. The room was absolutely beautiful and the art work all around the hotel was just incredible. This was the first hotel to truly go above and beyond for my dog. Once we settled into the room someone brought up a mat with two bowls, a bottle of water and a nice rope toy for my puppers. As well as a nice plush dog bed.The workers at the valet desk gave her plenty of treats that were home made from a local bakery.I highly recommend this hotel.

Our recent stay at Daxton Hotel in Birmingham, Michigan was nothing short of extraordinary! The hotel's central location in the heart of Birmingham made our visit convenient and most enjoyable. From the moment we stepped into the lobby, we were wowed by its incredible design and unique vibe. It’s open concept, complete with a beautiful bar and stunning artwork throughout, created an atmosphere that buzzed with excitement. The rooms were extremely comfortable, well laid out, and stylish. However, what truly set our stay apart was the outstanding service provided by Tom Meyer, Director of Restaurants and Bars. Tom went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure our experience was nothing short of exceptional. We have never been treated with such warmth and attention at any other hotel. We are most grateful to him!We highly recommend Daxton Hotel to anyone seeking a luxurious and memorable stay. The combination of a stunning atmosphere and unparalleled service, especially thanks to Tom Meyer, makes it a standout destination in Birmingham.

Fantastic stay at Daxton! Location can’t be beat, staff was fabulous (from the desk to the valet and everyone in between) and rooms were modern, clean and very comfortable. The pantry on each floor with complimentary snacks and water was a fantastic surprise and delight. The design and artwork in this boutique-like hotel was delightful, fun, and impressive. It’s such a nice change from your standard hotel experience with the big chains. Will definitely stay again! Highly recommend!
