Have you ever been somewhere and you suddenly stepped into a building, and you're thrown back in time? That is what it's like to walk into this beautiful historic bed and breakfast. This incredible mansion was built about 160 years ago, but the way it has been meticulously maintained and cared for you wouldn't know it. Everyone was so friendly and the fun details such as handmade tea bags and snacks combined with the history and pictures in each room. It makes you feel you are in the 18th century having proper tea with a very prominent lady of Columbus, IN.The next time I am in Columbus and need a place to stay I will look no further than the Inn at Irwin Gardens.

In my opinion the Irwin Gardens owner, Jessica Steven's is an absolutely awful, mean, and narcissistic individual I have ever had the displeasure of speaking with. She has already made her employees quit and doesn't know how to run any sort of business. This was all going towards what was supposed to be a very special day, and she has absolutely ruined everything. We have had a signed contract for almost a full year and we have had at least 2 event coordinators since that time.Today was supposed to just be us measuring the space out to figure out how to lay out tables and instead she started saying that we weren't going to be able to have the ceremony and reception with the 4 hours at the price that we signed the contract for. When she showed us the contract, I already knew that it wasn't the one we had signed, and I told her so, but she didn't listen. I was well okay with paying for extra set up time, and then she began saying really hurtful things and casting snide comments at me, when I was already about to cry, saying "oh are you angry?" And I said "yes, because you just told me I couldn't have the wedding I already paid for and signed a contract for"She then continued saying "well don't be angry at me, do you know how much it costs to run this business?"I told her that if she broke our contract I will take my money back and we will find someplace else. She said "okay, tell me who to write the check out to and for how much"She then continued to get nasty with my future MIL and my fiancé saying she never said she was going to break the contract and wasn't going to pay until my MIL said that we were breaking the contract. We had to get the police involved because she just continued to have a narcissistic grin on her face and continued to drag everything out.TL:DRThe owner of Irwin Gardens in my opinion is hateful, narcissistic, and rude and I would not recommend anyone to have any sort of event there.

I had a wonderful stay at the Inn at Irwin Gardens and would highly recommend it. The location was extremely convenient-just steps from the Columbus Visitors Center and walkable to the downtown restaurants and attractions. The inn is beautiful, with a lovely period décor and historic details. Lots of amenities like a carafe of water in room, chocolates on the bed, nice glasses, and a coffee station. Very clean and comfortable. The innkeeper was welcoming, polite, and provided a great breakfast. It's very nice that guests can utilize the downstairs sitting rooms and stroll through or sit in the beautiful gardens.

We booked a stay pre-New Year’s Eve, at the inn in the WG Irwin Suite. Stacey, the innkeeper, was very gracious at accommodating our request for an early check-in at 3 PM. When we arrived, we parked in the rear guest parking area and were greeted by a flock of beautiful cackling hens. Stacey met us at the guest entrance and pointed us to our room. One of the first things we noticed was how beautifully deckering the house was for the Christmas season. Each room in the house had a Christmas tree and every space was beautifully decorated. She said it took a team of seven people 3 days to decorate the house. It was magnificent! We were pleased when we got to our room to find a bottle of champagne on ice and chocolate dip strawberries that we had requested. Our room was spotlessly clean, and the mattress was very comfortable. The bath towels were luxuriously, fluffy and thick - such a nice touch. That evening we walked to dinner at a wonderful restaurant in town – Henry Social Club, where we enjoyed an excellent dinner. After dinner we came back to the inn and found a cozy fire going in the fireplace of the library. We then enjoyed our bottle of champagne and chocolate dipped strawberries in front of the warm fire while listening to music in the library. After a good nights sleep, we then went down to the elegant dining room, where our breakfast citrus fruit and kiwi fruit cup was waiting for us along with a glass of oj. Stacey then served us a homemade apple tart, made with apples from the orchard at the inn and some fresh brewed coffee. Our next course was a wonderful frittata made with the farm fresh eggs from the chickens on property. That was accompanied by small salad with champagne vinaigrette, and toast and bacon. It was quite a hearty breakfast and beautifully presented as well as tasting so good! We really felt pampered. We have stayed at the inn numerous times and always enjoy ourselves. It’s a bit of European elegance in a small town in Indiana setting. We highly recommend the Inn at Irwin Garden It’s a wonderfully relaxing and refreshing getaway. Once you stay here you will want to come back.

We stayed in the Irwin Suite on Nov. 30th. The house had just been decorated for Christmas and was beautiful. The hostess was phenomenal. She showed us the place and answered all of our historical questions and more. We enjoyed dinner at the Taku and then spent the evening enjoying drinks in the large reading room. The gardens were not in bloom, but outside was still beautiful. Breakfast was delicious. I highly recommend this B&B and the Irwin Suite!

Stayed one night at Old Northside B&B and could have stayed a few more if we had time. Gary is such an elegant host and sits with his guest to talk. If you love movies this is the place to go. He bakes delicious homemade cookies for his guests. Breakfast was delicious and there are accommodations for dietary restrictions. We slept sound and the room was spacious , clean and all accessories needed are provided. Must stay if in Indianapolis

This marks the 6th stay at a bed and breakfast for my wife and I. This one is definitely a top 3. The breakfasts were great and no shortage of food. We stayed in the Library suite and the amenities were great. With the inn not being so far from the highway it made transportation to things easy. The host, Gary, was great. Unfortunately, he was out of town for half of the trip; i would have loved to talk to him about his travels to the Soviet Union as I was a political science major.

What an amazing find in the heart of Indianapolis. I wish we would have had more time to relax and enjoy. Gary is the most gracious, kind and helpful host. He is so accommodating and to boot, he makes the best cookies ever! The breakfast was better than I have had at any bed and breakfast and forget the hotel chain breakfast those do not even compare. If we ever need a downtown Indianapolis area hotel - Old Northside B&B will be our first choice.

My 7 year old daughter and I stayed here for the weekend of her dance competition. Gary was a wonderful host. He wanted to make sure we were greated at the door. And while we slipped in behind another guest, he was still there to welcome us. Thw home is welcome and inviting and filled with so many wonderful movies to choose from. My kiddo thought it was the best. Our room had an electric fireplace of we got cold and a fan if we got hot. Which I loved because I can't sleep without one. Breakfast was absolutely delicious. Gary had a lovely spread laid out in the dinning room. I can't say enough. I'll def have to come back another time. Maybe with my husband. Thanks so much for having us. It was lovely.

Danny was the best host, he was exceptional! Definitely went above and beyond for us. Stayed in the Tiffany room which had a double hot tub, nice fire place and a king-size bed that was super comfortable. Free snacks with cookies, popcorn, nuts and free sodas and water. Nice patio for the smokers to go smoke. Amazon fire stick with, Netflix Hulu and Amazon. Breakfast was delicious, French toast, Banana bread french toast, cereal and fruit. Oj, coffee or tea. Will 100% go back. It's a great get-a-way that's close to home. Located Downtown Indianapolis at 14th and Alabama. If you're looking for a place to just get away and relax then give this place a try. You won't regret it!

The house is beautiful with free parking in a private lot in the back. It was built in 1885 and has fine woodwork, doors and trim. It’s seated in The Old Northside neighborhood amid tree-lined streets and nice, big, historic homes. It’s great for walks, coffee and restaurants. Gary is a great host. He’s friendly and interesting. He has memorabilia and photos that document his friendships with celebrities. A unique and highly recommended experience.

In a word, FABULOUS! By far, one of the best places that me and my husband have ever stayed. Gary is the ultimate host: warm, welcoming, thoughtful and very experienced. The beautiful historic home is nestled in the Old Northside neighborhood. The rooms are elegantly decorated and very inviting. They draw you in to relax and nestle.Gary went above and beyond all our expectations. From the home baked cookies to the array of snacks and beverages available (all gratis) and the hundreds of movies available, and the plush towels and soft sheets, Wi-Fi boosters and premium channels on the tv, and the option of having your full breakfast served at a time of YOUR choosing, and the million little ways you are made to feel “right at home,” a stay at the Old Northside Bed and Breakfast will draw you back again and again. Thank you for making our visit SO special. This place is a treasure!

My first experience staying at a B&B, and it was wonderful! The house is beautiful...everything is clean and comfy and there are so many personal, detailed touches that add to the experience. The host, Gary, goes over and above to make sure you are welcomed and have everything you need during your stay. The house is relatively close to downtown and has its own brightly lit, monitored parking area out back. This B&B also offers WiFi for guest, but why stay tied to the internet when Gary is near...great conversationalist, fluent in spanish and french and a world traveler (over 111 countries and all 50 states!)...very entertaining. The reason I gave a 4star rating, Google says an evening's stay is $144, but when the card was charged it was $193. I do not understand the difference and was on my way to an appointment that morning so I did not want to go through asking why. Plus Gary was such a great host the extra bit was worth it. Please check out all if my pics!

My wife and I celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary there this weekend. Everything was wonderful. Gary met us at the door, we set our bags down and he showed us around. There was a nice little snack bar with homemade cookies treats sweets and snacks available anytime and refrigerator filled with an assortment of complementary beverages. Gary was very welcoming and gave us a little history on the place and we got to talking and learned a bit about him. He is a super nice guy. We love the high ceilings and old traditional woodwork as well as the decore. We stayed in the biggest room that was on the main floor. It had beautiful Stainglass and appeared Like a step back in time. The room had a fireplace, a nice soaking tub for two, a very comfortable king size bed and was very spacious. Also Gary has probably the biggest collection of movies you will ever see. We went out for a nice dinner and then came back and watched movies. We opted for the latest time for breakfast which was 9:30 AM, and apparently three other couples did too so we all got to eat together and met some very interesting and nice people. The breakfast was great and Gary made a homemade egg sausage casserole. There were various breads, bagel, rolls, waffles, homemade banana nut bread, cereals and granola, fresh cut fruit, as well as coffee tea and juice. Gary made everyone feel welcome and I am runs a class act Bed and breakfast. Also it's only minutes from all the downtown attractions And restaurants. I highly recommend it!
